(Ida Grove) 4th ranked OABCIG looks to punch their ticket to the Class 2A semifinals Friday night. In their path is 8-2 PCM, Monroe.
OABCIG coach Larry Allen says PCM is led by a very mobile quarterback. Sage Burns started the first two games and then didn’t see action under center again until Week 9. He has 575 passing yards and 695 rushing yards. ”
Since the start of District play OABCIG is allowing less than seven points per game. “We’ve had multiple times where we have stopped opponents inside the five yard line. Last week we did it twice. The week before I think we did it twice. For some reason they are just able to bow their neck and keep opponents out. Coach Chizek does a great job with scouting reports and kind of knows what the other team is going to do based upon alignment. The kids really trust him and what he is telling them. They get to play more free and don’t have to do much processing so I think that’s been big for us.”
Cooper DeJean is the big name on offense with 2,591 yards passing and 33 touchdowns plus 966 rushing yards with 19 scores. “He’s fast, but I don’t think people think he’s as fast as he is when they rush him. His receivers do a great job of continuing to work to get open because they know he doesn’t get sacked very often.”
The Falcons are 10-0 for the first time in their history. Friday night will mark their 4th straight home game when they welcome the defending state champs to their place.
