(Oakland) The Riverside boys won the Creston Soccer Tournament on Saturday in come from behind fashion. The Bulldogs scored a goal in the final minute to force a shootout and outkicked the Panthers 4-2 to get the win.
Tanner Ford was able to tie the game up with his team-leading 12th goal of the season. Coach John Thomas says his team's ability to fight all the way to the end was a valuable lesson for the long run. Coach Thomas adds that teamwork has been the strength of his experienced squad. The Bulldogs start nine seniors and two juniors.
The team is now 10-2 on the season. Their only losses have come to larger schools, Harlan (1-0) and Thomas Jefferson (2-0). Tanner Ford's 12 goals are tops on the team while goalie David Anderson has been a force in the net. Anderson has stopped 91.1% of the attempts that have come his way, ranking third in the state in save percentage.
