(Denison) The Hawkeye 10 Conference Boys Golf Tournament has been re-scheduled for Tuesday at Majestic Hills in Denison.
The boys field for the Hawkeye 10 conference is as strong as ever according to Harlan coach Chad Swanson. He looks at Creston and Atlantic as two of the leaders in the team race.
The list continues with Denison-Schleswig, Harlan, and Shenandoah as teams having strong seasons. It’s a deep grouping of individual standouts in the conference as well, with a trio of great seniors leading the way. Carson Whittington, of Creston, is the defending state champ while Evan Schuler, of Atlantic, and Ross Martens, of Harlan have each had great years.
But Swanson says don’t count out guys like Parker Eller, of Denison-Schleswig, Carlton Rahn, of Clarinda, Kobe Rhodes, of Glenwood, or Jackson Baker, of Shenandoah.
It’s a unique and challenging course at Denison that the teams will be competing on. Coach Swanson says his Cyclone squad is still looking for everyone to put together a good round at the same time. He looks for them to be in the mix in the top half or if things go well, the top third of the conference.
Harlan finished fourth with a team total of 320 at the Kuemper Catholic tournamnet on Saturday. They were just six strokes of the pace. Ross Martens was the medalist at that tournament with a 70.
