(Atlantic) In an exciting finish, Audubon’s Susie Bylund defeated Riverside’s Ellen Johnson for the Western Iowa Conference Girls Golf Individual Championship.


Bylund and Johnson each shot 85’s for their 18-hole total Wednesday afternoon at Nishna Hills Golf Course leading to a pressure packed, sudden death playoff in front of a huge gallery of fans. The high-stakes playoff took three holes to determine a winner. Bylund parred the final hole sinking a key putt to win her 3rd straight WIC championship.

That left Riverside senior Ellen Johnson as the runner-up.

Treynor had three of the next four golfers with Aly Anderson 3rd, Gracie Myers, 4th and Brooke Goss finishing 6th. Audubon’s Faith Fliflet landed a fifth place individual finish.


In the team race Treynor won by a wide margin with a team total of 373. Runner up was Audubon at 393, here’s Wheeler head coach, Paul Lynch.

3rd was Tri-Center at 433. AHST placed 4th. Griswold and IKM-Manning tied for 5th, with Underwood, Riverside, and Logan-Magnolia rounding out the field.
