(Lake City) IKM-Manning was among the teams that competed at the cool-weather shortened track meet at South Central Calhoun Monday. The meet was called after the shuttle hurdle event due to dropping wind chills.
Some of the highlights for the Wolves on the boys side included three second place finishes in the field events. Sam Wegner cleared 5-10 in the high jump, Joe Thraen threw the discus 141-05, and Thraen tossed the shot 44-00. In the boys running events Matt Johnson (3200) was 5th in 12:30.91 and the 4X800 Meter Relay placed 6th in 10:33.15. Only three running events were held.
Other teams that braved the elements last night included South Central Calhoun, Coon Rapids-Bayard, Glidden-Ralston, Sioux Central, Gilbert, Prairie Valley, Ridge View, St. Mary's and East Sac County.
The girls team came away with a top three finish in five of the seven events that were held. Jessica Singsank placed 2nd in the high jump clearing 4-08. Courtney Monson threw 99-06 in the discus, good enough for 3rd. The Wolves went 2-3 in the shot with Cristyn Eischeid throwing 37-04 and Sarah Burnette at 33-03. IKM-Manning's 4X800 grouping crossed the finish line in 12:26 placing 2nd. The Shuttle Hurdle Relay placed 3rd in 1:30.69.
