(Oakland) 9 of the 11 starters return for the Riverside boys soccer that qualified for last year's state tournament.
The group not only brings back a lot of players from last year's state berth, but also a lot of confidence. Head coach John Thomas says this was the year that he expected his team to have a great season. They are led by three seniors who all signed letters of intent to go to Midland next year. That trio is Malachi Dillon, Dave Anderson, and Tanner Ford.
Coach Thomas says the experience was a reason they did well last year and looks for more of the same this year. They'll open up with Harlan on Thursday and coach Thomas lists the Cyclones along with Tri-Center, Thomas Jefferson and Underwood among the top area teams this season. They'll face two of those teams right away in the first two games of the season.
