(Branson, Missouri) Former Atlantic High School basketball player Dalton Franken is a starter on the Dordt basketball team that is playing in the first round of the NAIA Division II National Basketball Tournament tomorrow night.
Dordt will open up against William Penn at 9:15 p.m. The winner of that game will play the winner of the Union and St. Thomas game.
Dordt won the Great Plains Athletic Conference regular season title and finished with a record of 28-5. Franken admits, they were picked to finish fifth in the conference in the preseason.
"People weren't really expecting much from our team and it has been a great feeling being part of something where everyone came together and competed as hard as we could everyday in practice and on game night," stated Franken. "It is rewarding to see all that hard work pay off, with the conference title and a bid to the Nationals. We just hope we can continue that success."
Franken received some high honors this season. He was named the Great Plains Athletic Conference Freshman player of the Year and second team all-Conference.
Dalton Franken averaged 15-points a game this season and shot nearly 48-percent from the field.
