(Adair) It will be no easy challenge for 8th ranked Adair-Casey when they head to the state tournament to take on 3rd rated Burlington Notre Dame. We'll have the broadcast on KSOM with coverage starting at approximately 3:00p.m on Monday.
23-3 Adair-Casey will be taking on the highest scoring team in the state, regardless of class, in their first round state tournament game Monday afternoon. The Bombers take on a 21-3 Burlington Notre Dame squad that averages 81.7 points per game and boasts a state best 35.5 average margin of victory. Burlington Notre Dame scored over 100 points in their regional semi-final win, they've topped 90 points seven times this season, and reached at least 80 points in 16 games of their 24 games. Adair-Casey coach Cory Bartz describes the week of preparation last week as 'hectic.'
Coach Bartz hopes to slow down the pace of the game to help contain Burlington Notre Dames explosive offense. While Burlington Notre Dame has three players that average in double figures, Adair-Casey counters with a first-team all-state candidate in London Vais. The senior is perhaps the biggest star in the state tournament averaging 26.3 points per game, but has upped that to over 29 points per game throughout postseason play. Vais is one of three Bomber seniors trying to make sure that this game isn't the last of their career.
In addition to her scoring, Vais averages 10 rebounds and over two steals per game all while shooting 54.6% from the field, 35.8% from 3-point range, and 85% from the free throw line.
