(Shenandoah) Jake Lewis scored 22-points to lead Glenwood past Atlantic 65-55 in a Class 3A District Final boy’s basketball game at Shenandoah Thursday night. Lewis averaging 11.4 points per game picked up the slack in the absence of their leading scorer Gage Shatava, (16.4), who didn’t play after rolling an ankle during gym class Thursday.

Atlantic jumped out to a 9-2 lead and extended it to 19-9 in the second quarter behind three point shots from Garrett Franken, Ryan Hawkins and Tristen Benn. However, the Rams battled back with an 11-0 run and grabbed a 20-19 lead with 3:32 left in the half. The lead see-sawed back and forth during the balance of the quarter and when the dust cleared the Trojans led 27-26 at the break.

The third quarter was a defensive battle until Glenwood grabbed a 34-32 lead with 3:57 left in the stanza. The Rams led 43-38, after three quarters and extended the margin to 61-48 with a little over two minutes to play and held the Trojans at arms length to win 65-55.

Joey Walker led Atlantic with 21-points, Garrett Franken scored 17, including five three’s, Ryan Hawkins chipped in seven points, Tristen Benn added five, Brendan Holmes scored three and Nick Podhjasky ended the game with two-points.

Eight players scored for the Rams. Besides Lewis’ 22, Braden Wheeler knocked down 13-points, Corey Bertini scored nine and Cole Kennedy and Drew Konfrst chipped in seven a piece.

The Trojans season ends with a 7-15 record. The Rams extend their record to 14-9 and play Harlan in a Substate Final Monday night.
