(Adair) For the first time since 1992 and only the 2nd time in school history, the Adair-Casey girls basketball is headed to Des Moines for the State Tournament.  The Bombers advanced with a 74-61 win over Kingsley-Pierson in Monday's regional final.

With 35 points London Vais helped carry Adair-Casey all the way to the state tournament. The star senior for the Bombers is averaging 29.0 points per game duirng the regional tournament and was dominant at times in her team's biggest game of the year thus far..

Adair-Casey raced out of the gates with a 10-0 run to start the game. Kingsley-Pierson called a quick timeout and responded with an 8-2 run to get right back in the game. The Panthers got two big first half three's from Rachel Mercer and 10 first half points from Marina Keck to take their first lead of the game at 19-18, and the lead traded hands a couple of times from there before Adair-Casey ended the half on a strong stretch to reclaim the lead. The Bomber led by eight at halftime and the game was rarely closer than that in the 2nd half. Adair-Casey stretched the lead up to double figures on several occasions in the third quarter and led by no less than six in the second half. Boosting the cause was an 18/21 effort from the line in the 2nd half led by Vais who hit all seven of her 2nd half free throw tries.

Keck scored 11 more points after the break to keep Kingsley-Pierson close, but they never got any closer than six points. The Panthers bow out at 17-8 overall.

In addition to the 35 from Vais, Shelby Sorenson added 13, Emma Ferguson contributed 9, Zoey Dinkla had 7, Danni McCorkel 6, and Miranda Plowman 4.

Adair-Casey takes their 22-3 record and a number 8 ranking into the state tournament. They'll play 21-3 Burlington-Notre Dame at 3:15 on Monday, March 3rd.
