(Greenfield) 64 teams remain alive in Class 1A Boys basketball, but after Tuesday night that number will be trimed to 32. 14-8 Griswold feels good about their opportunity to make the cut when they play 8-13 Orient-Macksburg.
Griswold got postseason play started on Saturday night with a 49-24 win over Exira-EHK. The Tiger defense held Exira-EHK to just one point in the 2nd quarter en route to what was their second lowest point total allowed all season.
Griswold coach Chad Rodgers admits its a good position to be in when you have nearly twice as many wins as your district-semi final opponent but knows Orient-Macksburg is no slouch.
Griswold is a very veteran group with three seniors and two juniors in the starting lineup. Coach Rodgers says the team is ready to take that next step and advance to their first district final in what he believes to be over 10 years.
Tyrel Peters leads Griswold in scoring (14.6) and rebounding (7.5). Fellow senior Grant Haynes pitches in with 8.2 points a night while Mason Boucher and Jacob Maas each average over 6 ppg.
