(Avoca) Two of the top remaining teams in Class 1A District 14 meet Tuesday night at Nishnabotna for a trip to the district finals. 13-9 AHST will take on 20-3 East Mills with the winner moving on to the district final to play 16-6 Sidney or 10-11 Clarinda Academy.
AHST moved into the district semi-finals by coming from behind to beat Heartland Christian 74-58. Coach GG Harris says the team came out tight. They stormed back in the fourth quarter with a 31 point final quarter to get the win.
He describes East Mills as a very fundamental and well coached team, but admits he likes his team's draw. The Wolverines cruised past Essex 67-37 to move into Tuesday's matchup with AHST. Keegan Wederquist led the team with 27 points in the quarterfinals and leads the team at 17 points per game.
AHST is led by a combination of Lee Whyte (17.8 ppg) and Steven Jacobsen (10.7 ppg) who combined for 41 points in the win over Heartland Christian.
