(Griswold) 13-8 Griswold opens up district basketball play by hosting 6-16 Exira-EHK in the 2nd game of a doubleheader Thursday night.
Exira-EHK got their district tourney started with a 60-53 win over Audubon Monday night. Tigers Coach Chad Rodgers says Exira-EHK is a very well coached team that is athletic and crashes the boards agressively.
Coach Rodgers admits he was not pleased with the way his team finished the season. The Tigers suffered frustrating losses to Tri-Center and Underwood on their way to dropping four of their last five games.
Before that, the Tigers were off to one of their best starts in many seasons at 12-3. Tyrel Peters leads the team in both scoring (14.5ppg) and rebounding (7.2rpg) and is shooting 48% from the field.
The winner of Thursday night's game will advance to the district semi-finals against either 7-13 Orient-Macksburg or 6-15 Guthrie Center. Those teams will meet up in the first game of the doubleheader at Griswold Thursday. Nodaway Valley is considered by some to be a heavy favorite in the district. The 19-2 Wolverines host 4-18 CAM Thursday. 9-13 Adair-Casey against 12-8 Earlham is the other District 13 quarterfinal.
