(Audubon) The Logan-Magnolia Panthers are heading to the Class 1A state wrestling duals. The Panthers advanced out of the Audubon regional site Tuesday night.
Logan-Magnolia picked up a 40-25 win over East Mills and Audubon breezed past Southwest Iowa 57-18 to set up an all Western Iowa Conference final. Late in the regular season Audubon beat Logan-Magnolia 36-31, but Panthers were able to overturn that and then some with a convincing 53-15 win Tuesday night. The final dual of the night started at 195 pounds where Brandon Buffum of Logan-Magnolia earned a 3-2 decision over Audubon's Jordan Hansen. The Panthers kept the momentum going at 220 pounds where Tanner Winther trailed 10-0 against Matt Fett, but ended up pinning Class 1A's 10th ranked wrestler. A pin by heavyweight Joe Graf and a 3-2 win for Remington Meeker at 106 put Logan-Magnolia up 18-0. Audubon was unable to dig out of the early hole.
Audubon picked up only three wins against Logan-Magnolia. Kyle Juelsgaard's win by forfeit at 113, Brad Kerkhoff's pin at 126, and Lucas Smith-Petersen's 6-1 decision at 160 were the lone victories for the Wheelers in the final dual. Smith-Petersen picked up career wins number 100 and 101 on the night.
