(Shenandoah) Makonn Andersen scored 31-points to lead Shenandoah past Atlantic 64-60 in a Hawkeye Ten Conference boy’s basketball game at Shenandoah Friday night.
The sophomore post scored 16-points in the first half and 15 in the second to finish the night with 31. Payden Andersen pitched in with 14-points for the (4-3) Mustangs. Atlantic freshman Garrett Franken led the (1-4), Trojans with 20-points, Joey Walker knocked down a season high 19-points and Ryan Hawkins added 13.
The Trojans led 14-8 after one and 28-22 at the halftime break. However, the Mustangs sprinted out on a 9-2 run out the gate in the third quarter and grabbed a 31-30 lead with 6:07 left in the period and led 43-40 in the final moments of the third before Atlantic junior Nick Podasky scored a running three pointer at the buzzer to tie it at 43-43.
The Trojans jumped out to a 47-43 lead in the fourth quarter, but the Mustangs mounted a 9-0 run and held off the Trojans to win 64-60.
