(Greenfield) Nodaway Valley loses four starters and nine seniors from last year’s state qualifying team. The Wolverine boys basketball team will get their season started Tuesday by hosting Clarinda.The game will air on KSOM as part of a doubleheader.


Despite the long list of key losses coach Darrell Burmeister sounds optimistic about the players returning for Nodaway Valley this year.

Bower averaged 10.9 points and 5.8 rebounds per game a year ago. He’ll be relied on in a wide variety of ways as he enters his fourth season as a starter.

Included in that group are Jackson Lamb and Zach Plymesser who each saw regular playing time a year ago and will be starters this year. Also being thrust into starting roles are big men Caleb Mueller and Delson Grantham.

Nodaway Valley has been one of the premier programs in southwest Iowa in recent years. Over the last two season’s they have combined to go 46-6 with half of those losses coming at the state tournament.
