(Cedar Falls) We're just two days away from the 8-player state championship matchup at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls. Exira-EHK and Don-Bosco will battle for the state title.

Both teams come in undefeated and shared the #1 AP ranking in the state in the final regular season poll. The similarities between the Spartans and Dons don't stop there as each has dominated their way up to this point in the year. Both squads have pitched two shutouts and each has scored at least 36 points in each game this year.

Both are led by star quarterbacks, for Don-Bosco it's senior Jake Hogan and for Exira-EHK it's junior Drew Peppers. Hogan comes in with over 2,300 rushing yards and is one of only four players in state history to have rushed for 2,000 yards in back-to-back seasons. D. Peppers will have a chance to join that club next year, as the junior has topped the 2,000 yard mark this season with still a year to go to complete his prep career.

Don-Bosco advanced to the title game by beating Adair-Casey 78-21, meanwhile Exira-EHK also had little trouble in the semi's with a 56-7 win over Newell-Fonda. Dosco-Finished as the runner-up last year while Exira-EHK was a semi-finalist. Each team's only loss in the last two years was to last season's state champion MMC.
