(Cedar Falls) Adair-Casey ran into a buzz saw in their semi-final matchup against Don-Bosco Thursday morning in the UNI-Dome. The Don's, led by senior quarterback Jake Hogan, put up 78 points in a semi-final game for the second straight year. Hogan ran for six touchdowns and threw for two more as Don-Bosco's first team offense was never forced to punt and only failed to score on one possession, a fumble in the opening minutes of the game.
Adair-Casey actually led early when Traeton Jensen scored on a quarterback sneak to give the Bomber's the 7-0 advantage, but after that Don-Bosco scored 38 unanswered and eventually held leads of 54-13 at halftime and 78-21 through three quarters. The 78-21 score would hold up through the fourth quarter to stand as the final. Adair-Casey's state leading rushing attack struggled to get on track all game. All-time leading rusher Clayton Plowman ripped off one long run, a 63 yard score midway through the second quarter, but outside of that he was bottled up by a strong Don-Bosco Defense. Treaton Jensen found room up the up the right sideline late in the third quarter for a 43 yard TD run, but that was all the scoring for A-C.
The season comes to an end at 12-1, the seven seniors see a career that featured 40 wins come to an end. Don-Bosco moves on to play in next week's state championship game.
