(Harlan) The 35-4 Harlan Cyclones picked up their first ever state tournament win in program history last night by topping LeMars 3 sets to 1 in a Class 4A quarter-final at the US Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids.
LeMars edged the top ranked Cyclones 25-22 in the first set thanks to an early 16-3 run. After that though the Cyclones settled down and won the next three 25-8, 25-18, and 25-22.

Junior Jess Schaben picked up kills early and often finishing with 33 on the night. Sophomore Taylor Frederick posted 14 kills of her own for the Cyclones who move on to Thursday’s semi-final where they will see 6th ranked Charles City. The Comets are the defending champions and came back from a 2-0 hole to beat Waverly Shell Rock in 5.
