(Audubon) Audubon shut-out East Mills 24-0, Monday night in a second round play-off game at Audubon.
The Wheelers opened up a 14-0 lead on two touchdown passes of 28 and 45-yards. The first strike came with 5:31 left in the first quarter. Junior Quarterback Trevor Smith aimed and fired a 28-yard pass to Lucas Smith-Petersen. Oscar Felfel kicked the extra point to give the Wheelers a 7-0 lead. They extended that lead to 14-0 early in the second quarter when Smith launched a 45-yard TD pass to Colby Rattenborg, who made an acrobatic catch at the twenty-yard line and cruised into the end zone for the score. Audubon pinned three more points on the board on Oscar Felfel’s 25-yard field goal for a 17-0 lead at the half.
The East Mills defense stiffened in the second half and slowed the Wheeler offense down. Audubon’s only second half score was set up by a Wolverine turnover. Wheeler Cornerback, Lucas Smith-Petersen picked off a Logan Curran pass at the Wolverine two-yard line, and moments later Trevor Smith punched it in from two-yards out and the Wheelers sealed up the 24-0 win.
Audubon, (9-2), will take on (11-0), A-H-S-T on Friday night in the quarterfinals. This will be the second meeting between these two teams. The Vikings won a week two matchup 34-14.
