(Sioux Center) Former Atlantic standout Dalton Franken combined for 33-points in Dordt College men's basketball team's two season opening wins over the weekend.
Franken scored 22-points and grabbed four rebounds in the Defenders 100-93 win over Valley City College on Friday night. The 6'5 freshman forward was 9-14 from the field and two-for-two from the free throw line. Franken came back on Saturday with eleven points to help Dordt defeat Jamestown 96-92. The Atlantic native was 3-11 from the field and 5-of-6 from the free throw line.
Before coming to Dordt, Franken averaged 16 points and nine rebounds for Atlantic and was a four-year starter and earned first team all-conference honors multiple times…earned first-team all-state honors as a senior and Class 3A second-team all-state honors as a junior and was a third-team all-state from the Iowa Newspaper Association…scored over 1,000 career points and was a 2013 McDonald’s All-American nominee.
Dordt is 2-0 and will travel to face Grace in Omaha, Nebraska on Tuesday.
