(Fort Dodge) Griswold Junior Rebeka Topham is contention to be a four-time State Cross Country Champion after striding to her third straight title today in Fort Dodge. Topham cruised the course in a time of 13:56.3 seconds bettering last year's time by nearly nine seconds.


The Tigers finished 7th in the team race with 204-points. Alex Flippin finished 20th, 38th overall, Alyssa Wyman was 47, 72nd overall, Joanna Topham, was (64th, 90th overall), Bridget Mauer, (72nd, 98th overall), Kayla Kirchoff, was (82nd, 108 overall), and Leah Lappe, was (99th, 125th), overall.

Exira/EHK girls finished 12th out of 15 teams. Grace Hoflen, 15th, (32nd overall), Emily Copic, (25th 46th overall), Claire Paulsen, (43rd, 67th overall), Savannah Hayes, (92nd, 118 overall), and Gabbie Bintner, (93rd, 119th, overall). Pekin captured the 1A title with 81.

Two other southwest Iowa runners finished in the top ten in Class 1A including; Destiny Scar, Nodaway Valley, 8th, and Michelle Mumm of Tri-Center was ninth. Mackenzie Hulsing, Freshman from Southwest Iowa High School was 14th overall and Megan Diest of Audubon was 25th.


In the Class 3A Girls race Atlantic Sophomore, Tiffany Williams finished 24th overall improving by 38-places after finishing sixty-second as a freshman in 2012.
