(Griswold) When it comes to getting a good measuring stick of where you stand in Week 1, it doesn’t much better than Griswold’s non-district opener with St. Albert. Head coach Andy Everett says St. Albert looks like a 4A team and doesn’t expect anyone to contend with them in Class 1A this season.
The Tigers themselves look to be one of the top contenders in Class A this season as Radio Iowa has them ranked in the top 10 of their pre-season poll. Due to the construction of Griswold’s new track, the Tigers were unable to hold a pre-season scrimmage, but they have been practicing under the lights on the game field this week. That has allowed the team to beat the heat and also get the feel for more game like situations.
Kenneth Clary enters his senior season as Class A’s leading returning rusher. He’ll run behind a veteran offensive line that will also help pave the way for other rushing threats Tyler Muhlbauer and Caleb Schaaf.
