(Oakland) Mitch Rice has been promoted from Defensive Coordinator to Head Coach for the Riverside football team, and the Bulldogs are setting the bar high. Coach Rice says playing a physical style of football has been a major priority to turn things around. Riverside is coming off of a 2-7 campaign in 2012.
The squad has a large senior class this year that will try to lay the groundwork for restoring that tradition. As far as the style of play, it sounds like it will be a heavy dose of the running game. Travis Henningsen shifts from quarterback to running back this year and will try to run through holes behind fullback Connor Rankin. Starters on the offensive line include Garret Graves, Payton Housman, Max Farver, Travis Ransom, and Michael Pracht.
The Bulldogs will open up with Audubon this Friday night in a game we'll have on KSOM. THe Wheelers prevailed 32-7 last year in the season opener. Just like Riverside, Audubon is also led by a new coaching staff.
