(Harlan) Cross country practice is in full swing at Harlan and head coach is optimistic for both his boys and girls teams heading into the season.
The Harlan girls cross country team finished 4th at last year’s state meet. Four of the seven varsity runners return.
Bailey Kuhl leads the list of returners. Severl others will push towards the top of the pack including Marissa Klindt, Mercedee Mayberry, and Whitney Redler.
Others likely to run varsity Chantel Schmidt, Emily Blum, and a couple of freshmen who could emerge later on.
The boys team is hoping to finish in the top of the conference after coming in 3rd the last four seasons. Coach Renkly says Shenandoah was hit hard by graduation, but should be strong again. Glenwood is another top team from last year that the Cyclones look to compete with this year.
Coach Renkly says the cool weather to start off last week of practice was very helpful. This week they’ve had to deal with the head and have adjusted their practice plans.
