(Stanton) Low numbers have been a big story line for the Stanton football team in each of the past few seasons. That’s no different as the Vikings prepare for the 2013 year.
The numbers are down once again this season, only 14 players are healthy for the season opener. The good news is the team returns five starters from last season. Senior Cade Confer will be a featured running back with junior Kyle Petersen returning at quarterback. Outside of that it will be a large portion of sophomore on the field.
Coach Jeff Grebin says staying healthy is extremely important for his team. They’ll take on Nishnabotna to start off the season this Friday night. With the low numbers, they haven’t had a lot of opportunities for contact during practice, so Coach Grebin says the team is excited to be able to hit.
