(Anita) The season opener inches closer for the CAM football team. The Cougars are just a couple of days away from kicking things off against Adair-Casey.
Head coach Joe Wollum says the team wants to not only continue their playoff streak, but actually make some noise once they get their this season. They’ll have to find a way to replace some very quality seniors to do that. That includes guys like Matthew Williamson and Tyler Stork on the offensive and defensive line. Coach Wollum refers to that duo as two of the best players to ever put on a CAM uniform. Also gone to graduation is All-District Quarterback and Defensive Back Trevor McKee. On the offensive line, Austin Williamson and Trent Jessen will do their best to fill the vacancies while Trace Ticknor takes over as the quarterback.
Key returners are prevalent for the Cougars on both sides of the ball. Dylan Amdor and Brady Runyan each return in the backfield as multi-year starters. Michael Holste will again see time at tight end and Logan Dinkla returns from injury to the tight end spot.
Coach Wollum says defense will be a strength for the team especially early on in the year. Trace Ticknor and Brady Runyan headline the linebacking core while Dylan Amdor and Keegan Hosfelt each return as key components of the defensive line. CAM went 7-4 last season and made the playoffs for the 5th straight year.
