(Anita) When asked about the goals for the upcoming volleyball season, CAM head coach Zeli Rasmussen's first response was, "Winning." She says winning is the number one goal but other tasks to accomplish include seeing the team work well together, playing as a team, and having fun.
Throughout the first week of practice the squad has been working on getting in shape and doing extensive work on their passing skills. The Cougars will see several new teams on the schedule with the newly formed Rolling Valley Conference. Rasmussen lists Adair-Casey and Ar-We-Va as two of the potentially top teams in the new league.
Coach Rasmussen says she has already seen some possible strengths of the team emerge in the first week of practice. She looks for the hitting to be solid along the front line especially with returning hitters McKenzie Schwenke and Alyssa Kragelund. Newcomer Tianna Kinzie will also factor into the mix at the net. Shiann Cavin and Courtney Stevenson are working out at the setter spot. Coach Rasmussen also notes the play of libero Tehya Hansen in the following interview...
