RIVERSIDE BOYS CROSS COUNTRY LOOKS TO BUILD ON LAST YEAR'S SUCCESS

(Oakland) The Riverside boys cross country team graduated just two seniors from last year’s Class 1A 3rd place finisher at the state meet.

Gone from the team are 2012 graduates Ean Patrick who placed 22nd at state and Dillon Carrier who was the team’s #6 runner, but the group does have five runners with state experience returning. They’ll be led by three key seniors this year. Brady Ryun, Brandon Sipherd, and Brian Gordon represent the senior class. Sipherd placed 17th at state a year ago while Ryan was 31st.

The first week of practice has scene the team get a lot of miles under their belt. Coach Alex Oliver says they are also trying to build a competitive drive among the athletes.

Coach Oliver says between the girls and boys teams plus the middle school level they have 25 athletes in the program this season.
