(Harlan) The Harlan Cyclone volleyball team is coming off of back-to-back state tournament appearances and returns the core of their team from the last two seasons.
Head coach Angie Spangenburg says the team began practice this week by focusing on getting in shape and working on fundamentals. The team returns all-stater and ISU recruit Jess Schaben along with four other juniors who all played major rolls last season. Coach Spangenberg says the strong junior class has taken another step forward this year. In addition to Schaben, that list of juniors includes, Kenzie Swanson, Elle Kloewer, Taylor Wagner, and Asia Kloewer. Not to be forgotten is lone senior Tara Knudson.
The goal of course is to get back to the state tournament. Spangenberg admits the team would have liked to make deeper runs that the first round exits in each of the last two seasons. Harlan begins the season on August 31st with their home tournament.
