(Harlan) The storied Harlan Cyclone Football program reloads again this year with 12-returning starters. Eight on offense and four on defense from a district championship team that finished the regular season 8-2, before losing to Carroll in the first round of the playoffs.
The Cyclones have experience at Quarterback with senior Adam Juhl. Head Coach Curt Bladt says Juhl appears to be better this season and Juhl’s numbers last year were impressive completing 55-percent of his passes for 1822-yards, 19-touchdowns, and 14-interceptions.
Bladt says he thinks he’s found two guys that want to the carry the ball. Junior Adam Rasmussen, who didn’t have a touch a year ago will get time at tailback and converted tide end senior Shawn Schaben looks like a prospect at fullback. Coach Bladt didn’t deny that freshman Nick Tarney may see some varsity time in the backfield as well.
Others returning include; Wide out Gabe Ferry, Wing Back, Trey Lansman, Kicker Ethan Knudsen, guards Joe Anderson and Cale Stork and offensive tackle, Nathan Cave. The Cyclones return defensive backs Derek Leinen and Connor Clayton, linebacker, Jeremiah Bieker, defensive end Shawn Schaben.
The Cyclones open up at home against Denison on August 31.
