(Griswold) Coming off of the 2012 Girls State Cross Country Championship, Griswold is looking forward to the umcoming campaign with anticipation. Coach Jane Chaillie says the excitement level is very high after winning it all last year. The success of the program has helped increase the popularity and 16 runners are expected to report for the official first day of practice on Monday.
This past week has been used for pre-season camp and the team has put in several miles already. The camp was capped off by a scavenger hunt through town which coach Chaillie says was a fun way to bring an end to the pre-season.
Griswold loses some key seniors with Larissa Backhaus, Jordyn Sindt, and Allison Young all gone to graduation. They do return two time defending individual champion Rebekah Topham along with several other varsity and front-end JV runners from last year. Alyx Flippin who finished 10th overall at state last season is another very key member returning to this year's team.
