(Atlantic) The Atlantic baseball team notched wins number seven and eight on the season on Wednesday afternoon. The Trojans swept a doublheader against Sioux City West with a 5-3 win in game one and an 8-6 win in game two.
Kray Lukehart delivered his first career homer in game one of the doubleheader. The shot broke through the window of a van parked on the street just beyond left field. Chad Christensen threw a complete game to get the win on the mound.
In game two, Atlantic fell behind 3-0 with three unearned runs in the top of the first inning, but quickly bounced back with a three run bottom of the first to even the score. The big shot in the second game was a two run homer by Zach Nelson in the second inning. Freshman Ryan Hawkins was the winning pitcher. Hawkins gave way to Dalton Franken in the seventh and the senior picked up his first save of the year in his pitching debut.
The Trojans improve to 8-17 overall. They've won three of their last four games and will return to the diamond on Friday when they play at league leading Glenwood.
