(Atlantic) Winterset senior Karly Olson struck out 10 Atlantic batters allowed only two base runners in her complete game shutout on Tuesday. The Huskies improve to 28-8 with the win. It was the 15th time this season in which they have held an opponent scoreless.
Olsen allowed an infield single in the fourth inning to Emily Mitchell and also hit Tori Burck with a pitch in the 2nd inning. She got more than enough run support, in fact the first batter of the game supplied that...Winterset leadoff hitter Sammie Nicholson hit a home run to left center field to get the Huskies started on a good note. It was Nicholson's 7th homer of the season, she would go on to have a 3-4 day with three RBI. Chelsie Benshoof went 4-4 while Shae Olson drove in three runs on two hits. Winterset pounded out 14 hits in the game scoring one run in the 1st, two in the 2nd, and five in the 5th.
Atlantic falls to 17-20 on the season. They have two regular season games remaining with Audubon on Friday and Lewis Central on Saturday.
