(Adair) A five run 1st inning kick started the Nodaway Valley baseball team and the Wolverines never trailed in their 9-6 win at Adair-Casey Wednesday night.

In that big first inning Jackson Lamb delivered a two RBI double and Aaron Baudler blasted a three run homer. Adair-Casey clawed back with two unearned runs in the bottom of inning. Jordan Wheatley and Gunnar Dinkla each scored on consecutive balk calls. Over the next two innings the only offense for either side was Alex Umbaugh's third inning run on a Gunnar Dinkla RBI single. Another big inning came for Nodaway Valley in the fourth when they scored three runs to take an 8-3 advantage. Ryan Williams, Zach Eblen, and Trevor Jameson would all score in the inning. Eblen, Jameson and Lamb had the RBI's. Adair-Casey would have another answer though, this time in the fifth inning with three runs to cut the defecit to 8-6. Brennan Leonard, Alex Umbaugh's, and Jordan Wheatley had consecutive hits to start the frame and Logan Dinkla delivered a two RBI double that nearly cleared the left field fence. The score would hold at 8-6 until the seventh inning when Baley Scantz would walk and eventually plate a run on a Jameson RBI. Jameson who was hitting a Class 2A leading .566 coming into the night, raised his average with a 3-4 day. Adair-Casey needed three runs in the bottom of the seventh to keep the game alive but Nodaway Valley senior struck out the side. Williams fanned seven batters in three innings of relief.

Nodaway Valley goes to 10-9 with the win. Adair-Casey is 2-13.
