(Avoca) AHST will play in the semi-finals of their conference baseball tournament thanks to a 12-1 opening round win against Audubon Monday. Other teams moving on include Treynor, Underwood, and Missouri Valley.
AHST's quarterfinal win was backed by freshman Jay Heiny's big day at the plate. Heiny drove in five runs while going 4-4 at the dish. The Vikings ended up with eleven hits and got two runs each from Jake Larson, Dylan Robinson, and Tyler Robinson.
Steven Jacobsen pitched the win which was his third victory of the season. The sophomore gave up just one unearned run and allowed three hits over six innings. He walked two and struck out six.
After a 1-4 start the Vikings have bounced back to win four of their last seven. The semi-final matchup for ASHT is coming up on Wednesday in Griswold. They'll take on a Treynor has won 14 straight games.
