(Griswold) A 12-5 win at Sidney on Monday improves the record of the Griswold softball squad to 5-10. It marks the third straight week in which the Tigers have started off a week with a win as Griswold had previously picked up week-opening wins against Riverside and Tri-Center.
The Tigers had one of their best offensive showings of the season pounding out a dozen hits to up their 12 runs on the board. Coach Peggy Hansen says the team was driving the ball into the gaps as opposed to infield or bloop singles. The 12 runs scored is the third highest this season as the team put up 13 and 17 runs in early season wins against CAM and Riverside.
Western Iowa Conference Tournament play is up next for the softball squad. They play a 5-9 Audubon squad that beat them 5-4 in their lone regular season meeting. Coach Hansen says the team struggled defensively in that close loss to the Wheelers back in early June.
