(Atlantic) Two softball teams’ with different agenda’s squared off Thursday night in a high school softball game at Atlantic.
Kuemper nursing an 8-game losing streak traveled to Atlantic to face a Trojan girl’s team that was riding a six-game winning streak and the Knights prevailed 8-2.
Moriah Bohlman picked up her first win of the season in the circle. She struck out four Trojan batters, walked three, and allowed four hits. Tori Bruck took the loss for Atlantic. Bruck struck out three batters, and walked one while allowing seven hits.
The Knight’s took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning. Kendra Peter singled and scored on a Trojan error. Atlantic answered in the bottom of the frame. Tori Bruck singled and eventually scored on a Kuemper fielding error.
But, that would be the last time the game would be tied and it was all Kuemper after that.
In the third Alyson Forbes’ two-RBI single and three Trojan errors resulted in three Kuemper runs. In the bottom of the inning Atlantic mustered one run. Erin Olsen got on base with a base knocke and scored on Mackenzie Holmes RBI single to leave the score at 4-2.
The Knights scored two more runs each in the fourth and sixth innings powered by Kendra Peter two RBI single in the fourth and RBI double in the sixth.
Kendra Peter finished the night 3-4 with three RBI’s.
Erin Olsen, MacKenzie Holmes, Tori Bruck, Leah Tjepkes, and Reann Cappel each had base hits to account for the Trojans offensively.
Kuemper’s record is now 3-13 on the year. Atlantic falls to 11-8.
