(Atlantic) It has been a perfect week so far for the Atlantic Trojan softball team. They extended their winning streak to six straight Wednesday night after defeating Shenandoah in a double-header at Atlantic 12-6 and 9-1 in the night cap.
In the first game the Phillies scored four runs in the top of the first inning but the Trojans countered with four of their own in the bottom half, and tacked on four more in the second and third innings to lead 12-4. Josie Anzalone smacked a three run double and a two run single to spark the Trojan offense. Shenandoah scored two runs in the top of the fifth on Jordan Major’s two RBI double.
The Trojans scored 12-runs on 14 hits. Mackenzie Holmes and Josie Anzalone led the Trojan attacks with three hits.
In game two Atlantic broke open the game with six runs in the fourth. Erin Olsen, Reann Cappel and Tori Bruck all had RBI singles in the inning. They added three more runs in the sixth sparked by singles from Emily Mitchell, Molly Welter, and Leah Tpepkes. Mitchell went three-for-four at the plate to lead Atlantic in the nightcap.
Leah Tjepkes and Tori Bruck split duties in the circle for Atlantic now 11-7 on the season. They host Kuemper tonight.
