AUDUBON DOWNS GRISWOLD IN HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL


(Audubon) Audubon got production throughout their entire lineup in a 9-4 win over Griswold Wednesday evening. Six different Wheelers scored, five different players had at least one hit, and everyone reached base safely at some point in the game.

Kolton Jensen led the offense by going 2-3 at the plate and scoring 3 runs. Lucas Smith-Petersen and Colby Rattenborg also recorded two hits apiece while #9 hitter Ryver Knueven was on base all four times.

Audubon jumped out to a 2-0 lead after one inning and led 4-2 heading into the 5th. Griswold tied the game up at that point, but then Audubon responded in the bottom of the fifth with their biggest inning. They put up 5 runs thanks to three hits, two walk, and one hit batter.

 

Colby Rattenborg is the winning pitcher striking out five hitters over seven innings. The junior lefty gave up five hits including two by Jake Reynolds. Rattenborg is now 3-1 on the mound this season.

Griswold stays winless with the loss, they'll oppose Missouri Valley on Friday. Audubon is now 4-4 heading into a Thursday night non-conference game against Guthrie Center.

 

Coach Birks says his younger players are starting to get more and more confident as the season goes along.
