(Audubon) Nine different Wheelers scored runs in (3-6) Audubon's 12-0 win over Riverside in Western Iowa Conference Softball Monday. Coach Eric Borkowski says he shuffled up the lineup with the hopes of drumming up some offense. That move payed off in a big way as the Wheelers posted a season high 12 runs.
By comparison, the squad had combined for just four total runs in their previous three games, all three losses. Monday's win over Riverside gives Audubon a 3-6 record on the season in the midst of a jampacked week of softball. The Wheeler's were scheduled to play games Monday through Friday, but were postponed Tuesday night because of rain. Nonetheless the squad will close out the week with three games in as many nights as they take on Griswold, Guthrie Center and Tri-Center.
Monday's win was not only Audubon's best offensive showing of the year, but also their best effort to date when it comes to pitching and defense. Katie Porsch threw an efficient contest and picked up her first shutout of the season.
