(Atlantic) Following his junior season at North Dakota, Taylor Petersen is heading to Kansas for the summer to continue working on his baseball skills. The Atlantic High School Graduate was named a first team Great West Conference performer this past season.
Petersen spent his first two collegiate years playing at Iowa Central Community College then transferred to D-1 North Dakota where he hit .295 with a team leading .460 on base percentage. He started all 48 games for the squad this year including 45 of those at catcher.
Petersen says current big-leaguers such as Albert Pujols and Noland Reimold have played in the Jayhawk League which he will take part in this summer. He plans on being used primarily as a designated hitter for the Hayes Larks.
