(Neola) After an 18-7 campaign and runner-up finish in the Western Iowa Conference in 2012, the Tri-Center softball team will have a much different look to it in 2013. Three starters graduated and two others decided not to go out for softball prompting the Trojans to have to shuffle the lineup in the early going of the season.
Coach Pat Dalton says he's been moving kids around quite a bit as he tries to find the best position for each player. The squad has struggled defensively and it has led to an 0-3 start. Of the 26 runs the Trojans have given up, 20 of them have been unearned. They've lost 4-0 to Glenwood, 15-6 against Logan-Magnolia, and 7-6 against Missouri Valley.
Starting pitcher Malory Christiansen does return and has racked up 30 strikeouts through three games. Coach Dalton says Christiansen is adjusting to a new catcher and will come around as the season goes on.
Tri-Center will have two conference games on the schedule this week. They take on AHST on Wednesday and Underwood on Friday.
