(Panora) Long time Riverside golf coach Gary Wax had quite a send off in his final season. The boys golf team advanced to the state tournament for the first time under his watch and the Bulldogs ended up with a top three finisher individually.
Riverside junior Erick Rock (pictured) shot an 86 on the first day of competition at Lake Panorama National Resort. On day two he bettered that mark by four strokes with an 82 to land in a four-way tie for 3rd place with an overall total of 168.
As a team, Riverside's 756 placed 7th. They submitted a competetive 373 on Saturday, but Friday's 383 put the Bulldog's out of contention for a top four finish which had been their goal going in. Outside of Rock, Tyler Krueger submitted a 197, Christian Jorgensen and Mike Wilson 200, Tim Brink 202, and Jake Conway 213.
Sibley-Ocheyedan dominated the 1A field with a 673. Runner-up New London was a whopping 33 strokes behind.
