(Denison) Every once in a while a score gets reported that some people have to look at twice to make sure they read it accurately. One of those came across the ticker last night as Denison-Schleswig beat IKM-Manning in high school softball 30-11.
That's right, Denison-Schleswig's bats were alive to the tune of 30 runs on 20 hits in Thursday night's non-conference matchup. Seven Denison-Schleswig starters had at least two hits for the Monarchs, now 3-1 on the season. The team collected their 20 hits in 42 at bats for a team average of .476, and also walked 8 times. They surprisingly were held scoreless in the 2nd inning but scored 4 in the 1st, 5 in the 3rd, 9 in the 4th, and 12 in the 5th and final inning. The top five hitters combined to go 12/21 (.571) with 21 runs scored and 15 RBI.
The Monarchs have little time to celebrate their impressive showing as they turn around and play a double header on Friday at Sioux City against LeMars and Sioux City North.
