(Audubon) Exira-EHK picked up their first win of the season with an 8-4 victory at Audubon Wednesday.


Rachel Smith struck out 15 Wheeler batters and allowed just two hits to earn the win in the pitcher's circle. Smith also reached base in all five plate appearances on the plate, scoring two runs and driving in one. 8th grader Rachel Walker posted a 3-4 day at the plate with 2 RBI. The Spartans never trailed in the game, they took a 2-0 lead in the second and stretched it to 4-0 in the top of the fourth. Audubon clawed back over the next two innings to make it a 4-3 game at one point, but Exira-EHK stretched the lead back up to 7-3 with a three run 6th and closed out the 8-4 win.


Exira-EHK improves to 1-1 on the season. Sophomore Rachel Smith has struck out 32 batters in two games. Audubon falls to 1-1.
