(Greenfield) The Nodaway Valley softball team started the 2013 season with a road win over Stanton Tuesday evening. The Wolverines overcame an early three run deficit with nine runs in the final two innings and came away with a 9-4 win.
Paige McElfish and Megan Eblen led the way at the plate picking up two hits apiece. One of McElfish's hits was a home run to centerfield in the sixth inning. The squad gave up a run in the first and and two in the second to trail 3-0 in the early going, but took the lead with five runs in the sixth and added to it with four runs in the seventh.
McElfish, an eighth grade starter, also got the win in the pitcher's circle. She threw a complete game one hitter.
1-0 Nodaway Valley will play Earlham tonight and Lenox on Thursday.
