(Harlan) The Harlan girls track team sends 11 events to the state track meet which starts Thursday in Des Moines.
The number of events qualified is down this year for the Cyclones, that’s because the emphasis was on qualifying events that had an opportunity to place. Coach Bill Hosack says his squad accomplished that goal and thus believes all 11 events could score points at this year’s state meet.
Coach Hosack lists Davenport Assumption and Mount Pleasant as two of the top contenders in the team race this year. He’s set a goal for his team to score 40 points which could put them in the mix.
Individual events qualified for Harlan include Jess Feldman and Bailey Kuhl in the 800, Liz Riessen and Dena Baughman in the High Jump, Ashton Weyer in the Discus, Mikayla Evers in the 400, Dena Baughman in the 100 Meter Hurdles
Harlan also has six relays qualified with the Shuttle Hurdle, 4X200 4X400, 4X800, Sprint Medley, and Distance Medley.
