(Griswold) Griswold will be among the dozen boys and girls track teams competing at the state qualifying meet at Corning on Thursday. Bedford, Corning, East Mills, Essex, Fremont-Mills, Lenox, Nishnabotna, Sidney, South Page, Stanton, and Villisca will all send squads to the meet Thursday.
Griswold boys track coach Jane Chaillie says, "We do track well at Griswold." It's been that mentality that has led to a strong season for the Tigers despite the weather conditions which have left coaches throughout the state frustrated and discouraged by the lack of meets. Coach Chaillie describes the Corning site as a 'loaded' field. She still looks for her team to advance several events.
When it comes to the leaders heading into the Corning site Griswold has a number of leaders. Zach Vance has registered the top time for both the 1,6000 and 3,200 plus the Tigers Shuttle Hurdle and 4X200 Meter Relays have the district's best times.
Griswold is 2nd in the 4X100 and 4X800. Brighton Brandt has registered the 2nd best time in the 3,200 as has Taylor Briles in the 100.
Senior thrower Collin Fast has the 2nd best throw registered in the shot put and 3rd best in the discus.
