(Shenandoah) With 31.5 team points the Atlantic boys track team placed sixth at the 2013 Hawkeye Ten Conference track meet held in Shenandoah on Monday. Senior Jake Auerbach provided the bulk of the points for Atlantic who finished 18.5 points out of fifth place.
Auerbach delivered a second place finish in the 400 Meter Hurdles running 54.61. The only competitor ahead of him in that event was Drake Relays place winner Derek Jones of Glenwood. Auerbach also cleared 6-00 to place 3rd in the High Jump. Auerbach's converted time of 54.85 is the fourth best clocking to date in Class 3A. Jones is currently ranked number one going into Thursday's State Qualifying meet.
Other top performances for Atlantic had Kray Lukehart placing 4th in the long jump at 20-00. Freshman Alec Hayes tied for fifth in the high jump at 5'10. Brendan Holmes scored a point for the Trojans in the 400 Meters placing sixth in a time of 53.23.
Atlantic's top relays were the shuttle hurdle where they finished 3rd and the 4X400 which came in 4th.
